Description
Phoenix dactylifera, commonly known as date palm, is a flowering plant species in the palm family, Arecaceae, cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. The species is widely cultivated and is naturalized in many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. The date palm grows about 23 meters tall. These are feather leaf type, have spines growing along the stems and produce edible fruits. Date palm growing requires temperatures above 20 degrees to survive. Although drought tolerant they do best with regular watering and feeding.
